Any action on climate-related security risks must start with a thorough understanding of these risks. Better data and analysis are key to putting climate security into context so that responses can be tailored to root causes, not just correlations and symptoms. This session brought together climate security risk analysts behind Weathering Risk with partners tackling these risks on the front-line, to discuss how analysis and tools can be used to guide risk-informed responses to complex crises. Weathering Risk united down-scaled climate impact data an localised conflict analysis, tools and trainings grounded in foucsed climate security risk assessments. With these, it facilitates risk-informed planning, enhances capacity for action and improves operational responses that promote climate resilience and peace. Through examples from the Pacific to Africa, panelists explored how better climate security risk assessments can provide concrete entry points for planning and action, challenges and limitations and potentials for scaling up.
