PROMAR ambiciona reducir los flujos de residuos que entran al mar Caribe, principalmente empaques plásticos y plásticos de un solo uso, e igualmente promover soluciones basadas en Economía Circular en la República Dominicana, Costa Rica, Colombia, Islas Vírgenes Británicas, San Cristóbal y Nieves, Trinidad y Tobago, Guyana y Surinam. El proyecto está financiado por el Ministerio Federal Alemán de Medio Ambiente, Protección de la Naturaleza, Seguridad Nuclear y Protección del Consumidor (BMUV). El proyecto piloto fue llevado a cabo por el socio local Socya.
