Check out how we made and put up Christmas lights and decorations on the Village of Grapevine on our large-scale garden railroad.
Last week, we examined how we made and hung the Christmas lights and shot a cold winter video with Santa arriving at Christmas! This week and last week are a how-to video on putting up Christmas decorations on a model railroad.
First up Karyn makes a great 1:20.3 scale Christmas tree. We found the basic tree and decorations at Michaels Craft Store. Karyn also made great decorations from scratch. She made some awesome presents from tiny wood cubes by painting wrapping paper and ribbons directly on the wood cubes.
She also made a wonderful garland for the depot based on garlands from her childhood memories of public Christmas decorations strung above the streets. She made it from beads and pipe cleaners.
And finally, I bought a great Santa figure from 3D Prints in Resin on eBay. I shot the white print with red acrylic lacquer and let it dry for two days before layering it over with affordable water-based acrylic paint from Walmart! I added a bit of dark wash and touches of lighter color dry brushing.
