Hey guys welcome back to Pickles BBQ where we’re doing a delicious Vietnamese sandwich, bahn mi, with pulled pork! It's become popular in the US in recent years, and for good reason, it's simple, fresh and so very good! This recipe also works well with more traditional pork belly or less traditional brisket, pulled chicken or use your imagination.
Bahn Mi generally uses a French bun
Pickled vegetables, I used carrots and radishes
Chopped cilantro
Thin sliced cucumber
Thinly sliced jalapenos
Quick pickle thin sliced carrots and radishes or daikon by covering in rice vinegar, a dash of salt and pepper, optionally a teaspoon of sugar
Let sit in fridge for 30mins or so
The sauce for our bread
1/2 c mayonnaise
Splash of soy sauce and vinegar I use rice vinegar
A few cracks of black pepper
1/4 - 1/3 c hoisin sauce
Sriracha or favorite hot sauce to taste
Stir it up and let it sit in the fridge for 30 mins or so
Spread the sauce on the bread and heat in the oven for 7 or 8 mins
Assemble the sandwich and enjoy!!
