What is vegetarian Caribbean food? And more specifically, vegan Trinidadian food! We are lucky enough to have such an option on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, BC at Baby Dhal Roti. The place is small and there’s a patio as well, so we saw a lot of people order take out. It was really busy during dinner time, so we thought that was a very good sign of what the food would be like. There’s only one vegan/veggie option and it’s three kinds of vegetables on a bed of rice served in a to-go container. The food is made to order, so you’ll need to wait a bit for the food, but it’s worth it! It comes with chickpeas, spinach, and potatoes and some of these items are spicy. The portion is plenty for one hungry person and you might even have leftovers.
