The US, UK and France have launched airstrikes against multiple government targets in Damascus early on Saturday morning, targeting alleged chemical weapons sites. More than 100 missiles where launched on targets in Syria. Airstrikes lasted only for 15 minutes.
The President of The United States Donald J. Trump in a statement announcing the attacks said : "Today, the nations of Britain, France and the United States of America have marshalled their righteous power against barbarism and brutality."
US President Trump also stated that:"America does not seek an indefinite presence in Syria, under no circumstances. As other nations step up their contribution, we look forward to the day when we can bring our warriors home, and what great warriors they are. Looking around our very troubled world, Americans have no illusions. We cannot purge the world of evil, or act everywhere there is tyranny."
There are unconfirmed reports that only few of missiles have penetrated the air-defense system and hit their targets.
The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the attack against Syria "ACT OF AGGRESSION " against the country which is combating terrorism on its soil, adding that Russian servicemen help legitimate government to fight terrorist threat in the country.
The strikes are a response to a supposed chemical weapons attack on Douma last week. Syria and Russia have both denied the allegations, calling them 'staged' and a 'fabrication'.
