Come along with C. Vision Productions and videographer Dan Hadley, as we tour Union Pacific's former Missouri Pacific mainline across Kansas in June of 1997. We'll see trains in Gypsum, Bison, and the crew change point of Horace on our journey along the route. Locomotives from Southern Pacific, Union Pacific, Wisconsin Central, and Helm Leasing are seen in this video, representing some of the most common motive power found on the Hoisington Subdivision during the spring and summer of 1997. The line's days as a through route were coming to a close, and the abandonment process was already underway. As the end came for Tennessee Pass, the MoPac main between Herington, Kansas and Pueblo, Colorado lost its purpose. Soon after these scenes were captured, the remaining through traffic was moved north to UP's Kansas Pacific line. Today, little remains of the once-mighty Missouri Pacific main in Kansas and Colorado, with shortlines operating much of the existing trackage.
