Universal just made a pretty significant change to Halloween Horror Nights and if you're someone who buys a Frequent Fear pass every year, this one directly affects you.
Universal Orlando has officially discontinued Fear with Express Pass. That's the add-on that let Frequent Fear passholders attach Express Pass access to their seasonal HHN ticket. It's gone. No longer available at checkout. Whether you were looking at Rush of Fear, Frequent Fear, Frequent Fear Plus, or Ultimate Frequent Fear, none of those passes will have the Express Pass add-on option moving forward.
Universal did share a statement on this: "As we continue to evaluate our offerings in an effort to provide the best Halloween Horror Nights experience for all Guests, we have discontinued all Fear with Express Pass products. Other Fear pass options will go on sale soon."
Now here's the important distinction because I want to make sure this is crystal clear. Express Pass itself is NOT gone from Halloween Horror Nights. You can still buy it. It's just that you can only get it now as a nightly add-on when you purchase a single-night ticket. That version still gives you one-time front-of-line access at all the haunted houses and participating attractions for that night. The piece that's been cut is specifically the ability to bundle Express Pass with a multi-night Frequent Fear pass.
So what does this actually mean for frequent guests? If you planned on going to HHN multiple nights and using Express Pass each time, the math just changed on you. You'd either need to buy Express Pass separately each night or figure out a different strategy altogether. For the guests who were relying on that pass combo to navigate the event, this is a real loss.
Seasonal passes for Halloween Horror Nights are expected to go on sale soon, so this is something you'll want to factor in before you buy.
