Universal Orlando just dropped some major news that's going to change how we think about Express Pass forever. They've launched something called Universal Express Now, and honestly, I have mixed feelings about this one.
So here's the deal - instead of buying a full Express Pass for the entire day, you can now purchase individual ride access through this new system. Basically, you pick the exact rides you want to skip the line for and pay per attraction. It's kind of like Disney's old FastPass+ but you're paying for each one.
On one hand, I get it. Not everyone wants to drop $100+ on a full Express Pass, especially if they only care about hitting a few big attractions. This could actually save some families money if they're strategic about it.
But here's where I'm getting a little concerned - Universal keeps finding new ways to monetize literally everything in their parks. First we had the regular Express Pass, then Express Unlimited, now this individual option. Are we heading toward a future where every single convenience costs extra?
I'm walking through exactly how this new system works, what it costs, and whether it's actually worth it for different types of park visitors. Plus, we need to talk about what this means for standby wait times and overall guest satisfaction.
The theme park industry is changing fast, and Universal is clearly testing the waters to see how much guests are willing to pay for convenience. This could be a game changer or it could backfire completely.
What do you think about Universal's new Express Now option? Are you excited to try it or does it feel like too much nickel and diming?
