Although the song title "Twilight Zone" is not new, the Dutch band Golden Earring used it for their original 1982 hit single. However, the theme of the song bears similarity to one of the Twilight Zone TV episodes about a defecting KGB agent who finds himself in a dire situation. The Golden Earring's song was their only Top 10 Pop single on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #1 hit on the Billboard Top Album Tracks chart. Originally formed in 1961, the band is still very popular internationally and is considered one of the most stable lineups of all veteran bands.
