Here's one of the shortest pieces I've ever written :) This piece started out as MIDI composed for one of the short-lived Phoenix Speedmusic Sessions in the Doom Community on June 9th, 2018. Per the rules, I made the MIDI in 2 hours, so it's a very basic composition, but as my first and so far only attempt at writing music in such a small and strict time frame, I'm really proud of how it turned out! With my time torn between university, this and other original compositions, something tiny like this is exactly what I needed coming off the back of big old Aorta.
The middle section is what I was interested in the most. I bought a low whistle (D major) back in August having been wanting one for a while, and here is where I first get to use it. The last line of its part requires half-covering holes which I'm still a bit naff at, and D itself is a very awkward note to play when you're a beginner with small hands like me, so it was quite hard. But I will persevere! I won't always use it because of key signature stuff, though. One thing I have noticed is that the recorder has become easier for me to play since I've been doing stuff with the whistle, so I was able to add a melody for that too in this version.
Despite its size, this is quite a landmark of a piece for me personally. As you've noticed we're all the way up to June 2018 now. After this I put all my music work into this channel to get as far caught up as I could before starting university in the September. As some of you may remember, I was managing very regular uploads! But as a tradeoff, I didn't write any new music until October. So this piece is basically a sendoff to a long and not particularly happy part of my life that spanned about 3 years. I guess it's fitting it's quite a bright and upbeat piece :)
Ironically the next piece is not remotely uplifting, heh, but it was my first university assignment, and I'm really excited to start posting these. So thanks everyone so much for watching and listening and reading, I hope you enjoyed this piece, and I'll see you all next time :)
