Hi Guys and Gals! Here we have the 70th anniversary Thomas in green LBSC Livery! I will give it the plarail track mod and give it the first run!
The color and lettering is to represent the LBSCR (London Brighton and South Coast Railway) which is where Thomas is supposed to have come from before arriving on the Island of Sodor. The number 70 has a significance all of it's own! It is of course the 70th Anniversary Of Thomas the tank engine this year! YAY!
This special liveried Thomas will appear in the first special of 2015 called Thomas and friends The Adventure Begins. Due out in a couple of weeks it looks very interesting despite taking allot of liberties with the original story and characters. Thomas will arrive in his green livery seen here then later on be repainted to the number 1 train in the world that we all love! My biggest and only gripe with this train was that they didn't paint 2 of the white stripes on the top of the boiler!? with the missing stripes it looks awful in my opinion.
The loco is identical to the regular trackmaster 2/revolution Thomas in shape and dimension and the "one chassis for all" philosophy continues which is a shame. The loco runs very quietly and is quite fast but suffers from the wheels needing the special new track to get the best of them but with a bit of tweaking as seen in the video you can have a trackmaster 2 Thomas that runs acceptably on all track types. There is also my "How to fix Thomas to run better on all track types" video! So runs quietly but with the normal lack of grip from the hard plastic tires in conjunction with being far too light, I corrected this somewhat by adding some weight over the drive wheels which almost doubles the grip and pulling power in actual use and making the loco able to perform somewhat like a locomotive rather than a stunt car!
I think its a great looking loco and congratulations to Thomas for making it to 70!
I give this LBSC 70th anniversary Trackmaster Thomas a 7/10 (loses 1 point for stripes missing, 1 point for unpainted buffers and 1 point for being trackmaster 2) other than that I am very happy with it!
Thanks for watching! Look for my Trackmaster Glynn & 2015 Trackmaster talking engines!
