Hi all i'd like to thank youtube user ToysTrainsThings for these locomotives at a very reasonable price!! I sure do love them. Make sure you pop over to his youtube channel and say Hi! :D
So i bought these off a fellow youtuber and he acquired them in various lots from ebay etc, the front one is all original with its correct chassis but the trailing one has the incorrect chassis (a shinkansen chassis) and the drive unit in the rear one has also failed so its due for a swap soon but for now it can be the trailing diesel. They came with a pair of matching coaches which is a superb touch! I think they look fantastic, the proportions seem just right and even a little better than the chuggington wilson although that is a very cartoon'ish version of one of these locomotives. These locomotives were built in the 40's and 50's in huge numbers and ran all over America and variations of the design in other countries like Australia for one. I think they look very retro and are instantly recognizable as the classic American diesel.
They run on a C size battery and the drive unit is a 2 speed shinkansen type. The paintjob appears to be a cross between santa fe and rock island, they are in very reasonable condition and the only touch up of paint that I did was to the headlamps of both locomotives and they were badly scratched.
Overall a pair of great engines that i am very happy with and when double headed in an A+A unit combination like I have done here I think they look fantastic. These are clearly my favourite locomotives now if you haven't guessed already :D
Thanks for watching!!
