Todd and Bambi are in love, but Todd's caretakers, Dixie and Big Mama, don't see those feelings as something serious. They believe it's just a phase and Todd will find real love later. Todd is upset by their words and keeps believing in what he feels.
When he grows up he loves Bambi and finds out that he was right the whole time, and this love was like light that doesn't fade.
