TMNT Shredder's Revenge is finally out! This is a brand new beat 'em up developed by Tribute Games, which was heavily inspired by Konami's classic arcade games, and the early 90s era of the series. I grew up on this stuff, so it's nostalgic seeing all of the references to the cartoon, movies, and games. They packed so much into it, that they ended up with a run time of nearly 2 hours, making this one of the longest beat 'em ups I've ever played. That'll be somewhat polarizing, but I don't mind the length, personally.
Gnarly is the name for this game's hard mode. The normal difficulty is very easy to clear, and while Gnarly seemingly had very minor adjustments, it's quite a bit more difficult. From what I can tell they basically make you take twice as much damage, and bosses have twice as much health. I think some enemies also move faster or can be more aggressive, but I'm not really sure tbh. Still, you get 1UPs every 200 points, so you've got a lot of breathing room for mistakes.
I think Mikey is the worst character in the game. The "tiers" are pretty compact, so it's not a big deal, but the way his dive kick bounces off enemies makes it hard to get in from the air. I don't like his running jump attack, either. He spins on his shell, but the hitbox and range on it makes it a really weak approach. Other than that, he's fine though. He seems to build supers a little faster than the other characters thanks to his more frequent hits. I guess that's one point in his favor, lol.
After playing more, I've got a better approach for Captain Zorax. I've been overthinking it by trying super aggressive strategies, but just understanding how he works and playing clean makes him easier to deal with. This run is pretty sloppy and has some dumb deaths in it, but I should be able to get a no death run done soon.
Anyway, this is a great game and I'll be playing it a lot more. If you're a fan of the classic turtles, you have to play this. It was made for you!
Shredder's Revenge is available on all major platforms, including Xbox/PC Game Pass.

Cyber Shadow is a new 2D ninja action game from Finnish developer Mechanical Head Studios, and published by Yacht Club Games. Its blatantly inspired by a number of retro action games (and even some modern ones), with Ninja Gaiden being the clearest example. It differs from the NES classics in a few ways, though. It has a bunch of health and magic upgrades to find, some permanent progression, and its relatively long in comparison. But I really enjoyed it, and I would recommend it to any action game fan. Its on Game Pass, so you have a very cheap option to try it out if youre interested.
Reusing the description I wrote for my boss video, Ill change it and fill in more detailed time stamps later today.
