Spidersaurs is a "new" run & gun from WayForward, the creators of Contra 4. It plays exactly like Contra. This was originally released on Apple Arcade in 2019, but now WayForward has brought it to all modern consoles and PC. If you're looking for a new Contra style game, then this is right up your alley.
This is a full playthrough of the Story mode. I included almost all of the dialogue, though there are some extra scenes if you quit out of a mission and reload your save. I don't think you'll see everything if you play straight through, if that's something you're interested in. I like the world and characters of this game well enough, it helps give it some flavor.
There's also Arcade mode, which plays exactly like Story mode with unlockable powerups after each mission, except it doesn't have any of the dialogue and cutscenes. And there's Speedrun mode, which gives you all of your abilities right away. I appreciate the variety of modes, although I really don't like how you always have to play Mission 0. It's a tutorial stage with nothing to engage the player, it just wastes your time. Other than that, the game is pretty decent. I'm not the biggest fan of it to be honest, it's solid, but I never felt too motivated to keep playing. Maybe other people will like it more than I did. I do think Contra fans should at least give it a try, new run & guns don't come along too often nowadays and this one is fairly well made.
