In last week's TI Tuesday I broke the test unit right at the end of the video. So what better topic for this week's TI Tuesday than a repair using a replacement TI TPS92512H surface mount chip straight from the TI Samples service..
Using just an old Weller Magnastat Iron and a Hot Air solder Iron we will brutally remove the old chip (It was not wanting to leave I assure you, so I made it), taking no prisoners and then proceed to get a new one on there as carefully as possible..
This is a small part and I don't yet have a good Iron for this rework but it's bust anyway so nothing to lose right.
I then proceed to perform a few tests. Once I get a better Iron I will reflow it again and test again to see if there are improvements in the thermal performance...
