PirlCharger.com kindly sent me a prototype of their new PIRL USB Charger to review and use.
The device was free to me, the only requirement was to provide an unbiased review of the unit.
This is a USB Charger, NOT a Power Supply, you have to provide one of those yourself, anything between 7 and 17V will work but to get the most out of the unit, your PSU will need to be able to deliver about 50W or more at the rated voltage. The PIRL will take care of the rest.
You can also use this unit as a USB Power distribution for perhaps a set of raspberry PI devices needing a common supply rather than 4 separate wall wort's. Thats what I will probably be doing, it is ideal as each channel can supply the required 2.5A or more for each PI.... nice :)
Build quality was excelent, Fast Charge profile worked right away with my cell phone and all protection and functionality I tested worked as advertised.
The Kick starter campaign will be starting early June, as soon as I have a link I will add it to this post.
