In 1969, Motown released "Easy" which was the third duet album from Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell. However, Tammi Terrell was sufferring from a brain tumor which left her unable to record. Motown wanted to help Tammi in her medicial treatments, so they had Marvin Gaye & Valerie Simpson record an album as "Marvin & Tammi" which they hoped would bring in money to help Tammi. This track, "This Poor Heart Of Mine" is a wonderful song that would have been a great potential single, but it's certainly missing Tammi's presence.
Interesting note: This song was originally recorded by The Marvelettes as "Only Your Love Can Save Me" - the only difference was the chorus & title.
