55 Cancri e is located at 40 light-years from earth in the constellation of Cancer.

It revolves around a G-type star, named 55 Cancri and it is similar to our Sun.

The Planet 55 Cancri e is twice as big as Earth and about 8 times heavier than the Earth, therefore it comes in the category of Super-Earth.

It takes about 17 hrs to complete one orbit of its star, and is only 1.43 million miles from its star for comparison our earth is 92.9 million miles from our sun.

Being so closed to its star, 55 Cancri e is tidally locked means one side of the planet always faces the star and the other one is in constant darkness such that the planet has permanent day and night sides.
