This is the third-generation Toyota Century (UWG60), Japan’s most prestigious flagship luxury sedan, officially introduced in 2018 and built with an almost obsessive focus on craftsmanship and exclusivity. Production is deliberately limited to around 50 units per month, with each car largely hand-assembled at Toyota’s Higashi-Fuji Plant by highly trained master craftsmen. The Century remains the definitive chauffeur-driven vehicle in Japan. It continues to be favored by the Imperial Household as well as senior government officials, symbolizing understated luxury rather than overt extravagance.
Under the hood, this generation marks a major technical shift with the adoption of a 5.0-liter V8 hybrid powertrain, replacing the legendary V12 of earlier models. The rear cabin is equipped with power-reclining seats featuring massage functions, a deployable leg rest, an 11.3-inch rear entertainment display, and a premium 20-speaker audio system tuned for absolute clarity at low volumes. Traditional wool upholstery is deliberately chosen over leather for its superior sound absorption and soft, quiet feel, reinforcing the Century’s philosophy of discreet, deeply Japanese luxury.
