I still really want to know what objective caused the failure, how it's triggered. But it is a really interesting slice of history we got our hands on.
_______________
To correct a few mistakes I made: Bulgarian_Taffer was the creator of a separate mission in 2009, Nicked was the project lead (incidentally he made a recent mission called Sturmdrang Peak that is pretty awesome). It's spelled Jorge (I dropped an E). The notes are from Emil Pagliarulo who currently works for Bethesda as a Senior Designer and Writer of games such as Skyrim and Fallout 3 (which he won an award for). He was a level designer for LGS on Thief 2.
This project would have involved some key members in the community and while they may be working on it, once Nicked dropped out no one seemed to want to take charge and it stopped all progress. This is very similar to COSAS (Circle of Shadow and Stone, last release 2008, last news 2010), big ambitions, but conflicting and changing schedules have made the project dormant. I meant to say the T2X (2007) was a successful example of a huge overhaul type project and that COSAS was the dormant one (derp).
And I suppose as a last mention, T2G would have had the infamous bow upgrade, totally.

Gamma is up to max for better viewing on your end, and like usual, I cut parts that, like loading screens after reloads, just waste time.

Description : A local rich man, Bruno, has kidnapped one of the areas
X Military heros who recently upset him. He has a history
of inviting those who have annoyed him to stay, and
you have been contacted to get him out. This is my first
try at making a Thief mission. After many problems
and infuriating mistakes, its finally ready. Its
probably imperfect in many places, but hey, I think
its a good first go. If youre bored, you might as
well try it.I apologise for the awful name, I hate
trying to think things like that up :)
Komag Note I set the grid to 11 and grid snapped the whole freakin
mission, then I optimized it and then object cast lit it.
I also fixed a few room brushes. I didnt bother to
manually align the whole dang mission, so all the hallways
and floors and doorways and things are still out-a-whack,
but at least its playable now :-)

Distribution of this level is allowed as long as it is free and the package
is kept intact. You may not include this level to any map pack without my
permission. You CAN edit this mission if you want. I know there may be some
irritating bugs there that I could have missed [[[Komag note - I fixed the crashing, so you can look at the fountain and other areas now]]] , and my computer was too slow
to include some features that I wanted to. If you do edit it though, I would
like to see the results. :).
