Close to the mountains and surrounded by enchanted forests and graceful hills, there was a little German village between two majestic castles.

Some weeks ago, I already showed you one of the ruins close to our village in the Bavarian countryside and told you about its history. Michael and I spent an evening there to enjoy and capture the splendid winter sunset on the mighty castle hill. Winter sunsets are by far my favorite ones as they cover the cold snowy landscape with beautiful red and orange light. The view into the Alps was stunning that day and I’m incredibly happy to present you the drone footage of this fairytale place now.
As you requested to also see the other castle last time, I take you to the medieval ruins now. I love this place, it’s lonely in the middle of the fairy forest and calm. Especially on this day when a lot of snow was falling the atmosphere was so mystic. As a child I spent a lot of time there especially on birthday parties when we had a barbeque in the castle walls and played knights and princess. Exploring these walls, corridors and the rests of a medieval tower made me wonder how the people were that lived there so many hundred years ago – what did they think and like, whom did they love and how did their everyday life look like? I’m not allowed to use the drawings in our village chronical this time, but I made one myself based on them. How did the castle look like 400 years ago at about this time of the year? – Probably like so. The castle was first mentioned in official documents at about 1200. It was called “Burg Wolkenberg”, which means as much as ‘castle that is touching the clouds’ – What a beautiful name!
As we got half a meter snow overnight, the river next to our house looked so different the next day with all this fresh snow. I haven’t seen it like this in such a long time and it was a gift that I was able to capture it. I will show you more about all that snow we got in my next video.
