I made a "Monster In A Box" back in 2019, but it was so loud and violent I didn't want to subject my neighbors to hearing it constantly slamming and screeching for the entire month, and I seemed to always forget about setting it up for Halloween night. Over the years, I stole the power supply and a few other parts out of it for other props and it has sat in storage gathering dust. This year my wife encouraged me to try and fix it and use it in the display so I got it out today and started messing with it to see if I could get it going again. I didn't have a 12v 10a power supply so I tried a 12v 5a supply. The 5a supply is not powerful enough to enable the motor to fully shake the lid, but it does raise it up, then slowly settle back down. If I take the chains off it will function normally, but I kinda like the slow, subtle animation and feel like it better suits the more casual nature of my display. I added a second 12v 1a power supply to get the lights going, but the entire audio system appears to be dead now. I've taken the audio components out to go over them and once I get them going I plan on adding some scratching, scraping sounds instead of the shrill shrieking and run it constantly so it will be heard faintly when the box is closed, and louder when it opens.
