Now that I am finally done with this project I compiled all of my video clips into one video that shows the entire build from beginning to end, in as close to the order I did it as I could manage.
I glazed over things and don't go into a lot of detail here because I made so many short videos during the build and some of the things I did in them had to be redone or eliminated in the final build. This is a pretty complete look at all of the things I kept that worked. If anyone has any questions, or wants to see more of the trial and error process, just check the playlist of shorts I added for this build, which I will link below.
Thanks to Spider Hill Propworks for the Multi Mech - spiderhillpropworks.com/Multi-Mech-1_p_86.html Great mechanism! I had to replace the U bolts with smaller ones to attach the thin rebar and I had to add some assist springs to enable the motor to lift the weight of the skeleton and tombstone. Hopefully the extra stress I put on the mechanism will not cause breakage. Time will tell.
The motor controller is a Frightprops PicoVolt. Normally I use Jekyll Labs controllers to add randomness to my props so they don't just have a steady "sweep" motion, but this time I wanted to be able to record an animation sequence involving forward and reverse motion and loop it so the PicoVolt was perfect.
