Internal stabilization can be a godsend and a pain in the posterior to boot. This short video explains when is the best time to enable the feature and when it's best to have it switched off.

Also, a correction. The bird filmed in the clip demonstrating the feature turned off was a Grey-faced Buzzard and not a Japanese Sparrowhawk, as mentioned.
