A Lovely Jaunt | The Odyssey: Two Greek Concepts @ALovelyJaunt | Uploaded December 2019 | Updated October 2024, 16 hours ago.
Let's take a look at two major Greek concepts that weave throughout the story. First, homosophrune, the idea that Odysseus has a soul mate he's trying to get home to: his beloved wife Penelope. This corresponds to the Greeks' conservative ideals that also circle around the concept of the oikos, the home. Odysseus is a man who had run his household well and there's evidence of that throughout the story. This makes him an ideal soldier, husband, and king.
