Part 5 of LPPFusions new video series The New Race to Fusion, the first comprehensive comparison and ranking of the worlds leading efforts to achieve fusion energy. In this part, LPPFusion Chief Scientist Eric Lerner describes the next steps the research team is taking to improve the performance of the Focus Fusion-1 experimental fusion device. The main effort right now is being directed at eliminating impurities in the plasma using tungsten electrodes. In the course of 2017, the team expects to shift to beryllium electrodes and then introduce the target fuel, hydrogen and boron.
