The liver has a number of functions including the production of bile, detoxifying poisonous substances such as ethanol, passing the breakdown products into the blood, breaking down old and worn old blood cells and the removal of lactic acid. This video will look at each of these functions of the liver in turn, paying particular attention to how lactic acid produced in a aerobic respiration is removed and converted into glucose.
