Raymond Antrobus MBE, award winning poet, children’s author and advocate will give the final keynote at CMC. The Last Word – Written, Spoken, Signed, Felt will use his own written works in performance to explore his experience of marginalisation, examine why the emotional lives of boys and young people matter so deeply, and invite us to consider our role as creators of content for children.

Raymond’s first picture book: Can Bears Ski? (illustrated by Polly Dunbar) made history as the first story to be signed in full BSL on CBeebies Bedtime by Rose Ayling-Ellis. His second, Terrible Horses, explored the complexities of sibling relationships and the power of creative expression.

Raymond’s awards include the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year, the Ted Hughes and Somerset Maugham Awards. the Rathbone Folio Prize and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He is an advocate for several D/deaf charities, including Deaf Kidz International and the National Deaf Children’s Society.
