Playthrough with the Art of Fighting team. This game was released in 2022, and unfortunately really was the point where I stopped caring about the series. This game is all about using the max mode (and the new quick max mode) which allows you to extend your combos to ridiculous levels. It’s also exactly what I *don’t* want in my fighting game -it really feels like so many games want to be like Marvel Vs. Capcom these days. I don’t like it. Get hit once, sit around watching your own combo AMV. On the plus side, this game does feature auto-combos for everyone, so I can at least pretend to know what I’m doing at times.
If you’re playing against the CPU then the max mode stuff doesn’t matter. The CPU is kind of frustrating to fight at times though, with some very blatant input reading going on. Certain characters seem to be programmed to be bigger jerks than others, in particular, Kim can be a nightmare to fight. SNK still can’t quite shake off that arcade “take the player’s quarters” mentality.
This game has two bosses. Re Verse is really easy, and Otoma=Raga isn’t too bad by SNK’s standards. As seen here in the first round, sometimes she just does nothing. If you can get her in the corner then you should be ok, the main thing to fear with her is her high damage output. Many of her attacks send you flying to the opposite to the end of the screen. I could not help but laugh at what happened at 32:09 -the moment I inputted Ryo's super, the boss instantly counters it. I got flashbacks to that one time:

Upon defeat, the boss comes back with a bit of extra health, but other than that she’s a pushover compared to the likes of Rugal and Goenitz.
