My submission for the Hardware Jams “Picture Challenge 2025” Weekend Challenge.
This week we used a wonderfully weird medieval painting as inspiration for our jams. I picked a few elements from the picture for this jam: two giant ears carrying a knife; a body with music tattooed on its butt; and, a procession round a musical hat.
I started by creating a heavy kick using my new Blast module from Patching Panda and used the envelope out of this to sidechain almost all the other sounds in this jam. I then created some weird screamy textures using the contact mic in the Microphonie module. This, passed though overdrive and distortion resulted in some cool screams when running my hands along the patch cables in the rig. I also added a drone from the elmyra 2 and an formanty bandpassed arp which starts by following the pattern of music tattooed on a butt in the image.

Today I would love us to embark on a musical journey inspired by Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516) Dutch painter (Wikipedia page - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hieronymus_Bosch)
Every time I look at one of his paintings (the more chaotic ones) I see jazz for some bizarre reason, but this is just my interpretation of it. What do you see in this pic? Can you translate it into a jam? I'm a strong believer in continuous improvement and always trying to learn something new. I’ve been building some new modules recently, so spent some time learning how to use them this week. These include the DivSkip, Turing Machine, Crush Delay, and Blast.
My DIY Eurorack Synth Rules

I aim to meet the following criteria when adding modules to my synth:
◦ I must have constructed it.
This can be a kit or from scratch but I must have soldered it
◦ The audio signal path should be analog.
I'm trying to avoid digital modules so I can learn more about analog electronics
◦ Learn something new
Try to learn something while constructing the module. Learn about the circuits, experiment with different signal processing options. Be creative.
◦ Have fun
