The Drive Home is everything that's good about the music from the 80s, the cutting edge synthesizers, toms with the full Phil Collins' treatment, and all the possibilities of the endless horizon!
Now I have a more capable computer, I re-rendered all the 3D assets and the video in glorious 4K!
Process Notes:
This track was originally released on my Beach House EP as the closing track, to evoke the feeling of a long drive home after a weekend partying at a beach house in the summer. The rest of the EP is Tropical House but this track is solidly Synthwave/Outrun, and I fully embraced the genre in the video clip.
Music created in Ableton Live, using:
- Native Instruments' Komplete Kontrol, Super 8, Prism, FM 8, Retro Machines, Reaktor
- Arturia's Chorus Jun-6, Pigments
- Fabfilter's Pro-Q 3, Pro-C 2, Pro-L, Pro-MB, Volcano 2, Saturn 2
- XLN's RC-20
- Cableguys' Shaperbox 2
- Wavesfactory Trackspacer 2
- Valhalla's Vintage Verb
- Soundtoys' EchoBoy Jr, LittlePlate
- Soundtheory's Gulfoss
- iZotope's Ozone 9, Neutron 3, Tonal Balance Control
- Sonox's Oxford Inflator

- DaVinci Resolve 18
- Affinity Photo for the Artifonica device/logo and other photo touching up
- Magic Animate, by @MrAlexTech
- mMusicCut, by @motionvfx for a couple of transitions
- I generated all the background sky images using the Midjourney "AI"
- Blender, to animate the Sun (model provided by @NASA ) and to animate the hovercar (model provided by Nicola Piovesan at chaosmonger studio)
Keywords:
