Seagulls Gather | The Cricket on the Hearth by Charles Dickens Book Review @SeagullsGather | Uploaded December 2022 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
My review of Charles Dickens' third Christmas novel - The Cricket on the Hearth (1845).
In this novel a surprise guest at the Peerybingle's house threatens their domestic bliss. Meanwhile Caleb Plummer and his blind daughter must contend with the grumpy businessman Tackleton.
Of course it's Christmas so a happy ending is inevitable? Or is it? What does Dickens' ending mean for the Peerybingles et al?
My books, the British sci-fi comedy Professor Lovecraft, are now available on Amazon here: cutt.ly/W9GeO37
