The 1977 Broad Haven UFO incident remains one of the UK’s most famous mass extraterrestrial sighting events.
Centred around a small coastal village in Pembrokeshire, Wales, the area became known as the "Broad Haven Triangle" or "Dyfed Triangle" after approximately 450 people reported strange encounters throughout that year.
On 4 February 1977, a group of 14 to 16 primary schoolchildren claimed to see a yellow, cigar-shaped craft land in a field next to their school playground. Multiple children also reported seeing a faceless, 7-foot-tall creature dressed in a silver bodysuit emerging near the craft.
Suspecting a playground prank, the headteacher separated the children and instructed them to draw what they saw under exam conditions. The resulting sketches in the school scrapbook were remarkably consistent, all depicting a domed, cigar-shaped object.
Months later, Rosa Granville—owner of the nearby Haven Fort Hotel—reported seeing an upside-down saucer outside her window and two faceless, humanoid figures with pointed heads. Other locals reported silver or orange floating balls and figures peering into windows.
Nearly 50 years later, the UFO mystery in Broad Haven remains unsolved.
