Christmas Day parkrun is the best parkrun of the year! It is the best possible way to start Christmas Day and this year it was great to have lots of family there too. If you haven't been to a Christmas Day parkrun then I can't encourage you enough to get yourself there to check it out next year! It is the extra parkrun day that the UK selects as its special parkrun day and it has a real magical, celebratory, community feel to it. It's sure to bring a smile to your face.
Elf is my favourite Christmas film so we tried to stick to what Buddy the Elf says: The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear! Poppy and I really tested this out and you know what? It really does work!
Huge thanks to the team of Christmas volunteers and to all the parkrunners that joined in with our singing. It was an unbelievably good start to Christmas Day. We love parkrunning together and the fancy dress made us smile from ear to ear. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and here's to a 2026 filled with lots of fantastic times, outside, doing something that we love. I feel very grateful to be part of the parkrun family.
Oh and as we didn't cross the finish line when it was busy then the 'real double funnel' was a bit of a non event for us. I believe both the actual original real double funnel, and this new 'real double funnel' have pros and cons but the original has the best capacity to produce accurate results due to the 'real double funnel' always prioritising one data set when times are matching so I think my vote would go for the original one for what it's worth?!
