Irelandscapes | The Ards Wood Craftsman at Carrickfergus Fair - (N Irish Town Documentary with Scenery) @Irelandscapes | Uploaded September 2021 | Updated October 2024, 29 minutes ago.
In August 2021, Carrickfergus Town put on a superb siege reenactment and fair at their iconic castle on Belfast Lough - the scene of centuries of shipping commerce, settlement evolution and even naval warfare. Over 40 regular re-enactors took part in the 1689 Siege Of Carrickfergus scenes whilst many stalls on the harbour offered a glimpse of contemporary life with costume, food, drink, games, crafts and lore. Among this array of entertainment I found a wood craftsman from Portaferry direction on the Ards Peninsula. Here he tells us about his work and it's relevance to understanding our history. His exhibition of crafts fitting hand in glove with the day's themed events.
