The 1980s saw the rise of German carmakers, with other European carmakers really suffering. The 1990s promised the rise of cars from the “Land of the Rising Sun” – Japan. They were introducing a swathe of luxury cars to the US market; the new Lexus, Infiniti and Acura brands, and it made sense they would bring those same cars to Europe. So, would they stop Germany’s dominance?
