It's quite possible the Audi 100 was the most important car in Audi’s history. Despite being forbidden to develop any new cars, Audi’s engineering team went ahead anyway with the risk of being fired. It’s introduction in 1968 would mark the birth of a new luxury brand that today is one of the most successful in the world. So, just how did a company that was losing money on 2-stroke cars that nobody wanted, just a few years later produce a popular luxury car?
