The Mini showed the world what a practical small car could be like, but it was Fiat’s 127 supermini that took the category by storm in the 1970s. The 127 was a big hit, but it would be its successor, the Fiat Uno that would go on to be the numero uno selling Fiat. Yet the Uno wasn’t originally intended to be a Fiat at all. Just why was the Uno so popular, and why was it still in production 21 years after it was supposedly replaced?
