A tribute to the film starring Dick Powell, Ann Dvorak, Patsy Kelly, Fred Allen, Margaret Irving, Benny Baker, and Paul Whiteman. This was one of two films Dick Powell made on loan to Fox from Warner Brothers; it was one of his favorite films from his early career. Here, he plays the part of an entertainment who takes refuge at a political rally during a downpour. Powell's character, a singer named Eric Land, ends up having to make a speech in the place of an inebriated politician and finds himself taken into serious consideration to run for governor. All of this takes up his time and puts a strain on his relationship with his girlfriend, Sally Mason (Ann Dvorak). Entertaining, charming, funny, and romantic, this movie was finally released in the Fox Archive series. Title tune performed by Dick Powell. Enjoy!
