Vendetta System 3, 1990
This isometric game feels like a spiritual cousin to The Last Ninja series but with some unnecessary bells and whistles. It's an action arcade/beat em' up/shoot em' up/ racing simulator/puzzle em' up!
With so many elements what could possibly go wrong?
You play a mercenary racing against time to save your girlfriend from terrorists bla bla bla and save the world, yawn!!
Action is very low-energy and the fighting mechanics are as bad as the shooting mechanics. The game is built around finding objects and solving puzzles which could have been the games main strength but flicking between the menu system and on-screen action is very frustrating. You have to stand on the correct pixel to use or find an object. Each stage is split up with driving sections, which you won't look forward to because it feels like you're playing hard driving backwards.
Everything feels half arsed, with too many kitchen sinks thrown in. If you wanna experience the best Vendetta has to offer, go play the C64 version.
