Tormach Inc. | Testing Mini-Shear Roughing End Mills on the Tormach 770M @tormachinc | Uploaded July 2018 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
In today’s video, we’re testing out some new roughing end mills from AB Tools on the Tormach machines. AB tools supplies a large line of cutters including Shear-Hogs, which are a larger line of the Mini-Shears. If you’re looking to remove a large surface area of material, you’ll want to check out the Shear-Hogs as well.

Every end mill has its place for different cutting applications, and the Mini-Shear fits the ticket for a typical material removal application. In the video, we’re putting the Mini-Shear to the test, running it through aluminum to remove material as fast as we can. Throughout the video, Jason will be going over the feeds and speeds to give an idea of what you should be running them at.

Roughing end mills are commonly used when you’re looking to remove a large amount of metal in a short amount of time. When it comes to this type of application, Mini-Shears are typically a lot more efficient than using a standard end mill. The quick removal of material is commonly referred to as “hogging.” Mini Shears are often used while cutting aluminum, and an ideal solution for machining non-ferrous part materials.
