Trim routers are great, but the smaller base doesn’t give you much support and can make the router pretty easy to tip.

I wanted a larger base for mine, so before cutting into a piece of thicker acrylic, I made a quick plywood prototype on the CNC. Three bits handled everything from the chamfers and countersinks to the mounting holes and final profile.

The test fit worked perfectly and gives the router a much wider, more stable footprint. Now that we know the design works, it’s time to make the real version out of acrylic! Check out the tools used on our website -
