Successful test of ArduPilot (Copter-3.4-dev) using Lidar for terrain following during a mission. The development of this feature was sponsored by Gateway Geospacial.

Flight was fully autonomous and the vehicle was attempting to maintain 10m above the surface as it flew up on ski run and down another.
The vehicle came much closer than 10m to the ground on the upward slope because the steep slope plus forward lean of the vehicle confused the sonar (even though the distance is corrected for the lean of the vehicle)
Vehicle used was a beat up 3DR IRIS+, 3DR Radio, PulsedLight3d 40m Lidar, Mission Planner
