Telescope Peak is a 14-mile round trip hike with 3,000 feet of elevation gain to Death Valley's highest point at 11,049 feet. The trail climbs through alpine meadows and ancient bristlecone pines before reaching a ridgeline with panoramic views from Badwater Basin to the Sierra Nevada. Best hiked May through October when snow clears from the upper sections. Start early to avoid afternoon heat and allow 7-9 hours for the round trip. The trailhead is at Mahogany Flat Campground, reached via a rough dirt road requiring high clearance.
