This is Tambo del Inka, a Marriott Luxury Collection property in Peru where our five-night stay would’ve cost over $3,500 in cash… but we paid almost nothing using five 50,000-point Marriott Free Night Awards that we earned from the sign-up bonus on a Marriott co-branded credit card a while back and topped those up with an additional 4,000 Marriott points to cover the full stay. That meant all we paid out of pocket was $174 in taxes and fees. Not bad for a luxury resort with stunning mountain views, a private train station to Machu Picchu, some of the best food we’ve ever had, and of course, an onsite alpaca.
