This swimming drill, called the 6/3/6, is an extended version of the 6/1/6 drill shown in Episode 11. This drill involves six kicks with one arm extended, three freestyle strokes, then six kicks on the other side.
Coach Paul Newsome, founder of Swim Smooth, showcases this swim drill with the help of an Endless Pool Fastlane system.
As with the 6/1/6 drill, the 6/3/6 functions as a stepping-stone to bilateral breathing for a more balanced, efficient swim stroke.
Coach Newsome executes this demo with the Endless Pools Fastlane®. The Fastlane puts Endless Pools' smooth and sizable swim current into his inground pool; it allows him to swim in place, with no flip turns, for uninterrupted focus on his swim technique.
Note: beginning around the 2:53 mark, the water distorts the size of the Fastlane unit in relation to the swimmer. The Fastlane unit measures just 34" tall, 18" deep, and 29" wide.
