On February 2, 2024. An officer from the Cedarburg Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding. The officer approached the driver who stated that someone stole her purse containing her drivers license but said her name was Jasmen. The officer ran the name and date of birth that she provided and it came back to a female that previously lived in Sun Prairie who did not have a valid driver's licence. When questioned, the driver stated that she never lived in Sun Prairie and that it must not be her. An officer from the Grafton Police Department arrived with a Fast ID device, the driver said she would rather provide her social security number which she did. Officers went back to their squad car to verify the social security number and the driver put the vehicle in drive and took off. Officers lost sight of the vehicle but saw the female driver running on foot behind a highschool shortly after. The female was on the opposite side of a fence but listened to an officer's commands to stop and was placed in handcuffs after the officer was able to jump over the fence. She was escorted to the squad car, searched and placed inside. Officers located the vehicle and contacted the owner who stated that “Tia” was the female's real name. Tia began saying that her sister was driving and that she was lying down in the back seat under a blanket. Officers checked and only saw one set of footprints fleeing from the crashed vehicle. A search of the backpack that Tia was wearing revealed three dollar bills folded up containing a white powdery substance which later tested positive for cocaine. Tia was transported to the Cedarburg Police Department where she refused to do a breathalyzer. Officers then got a search warrant and she was transported to the hospital for a blood draw which revealed a.146 BAC. Tia was then transported to the Ozaukee County Jail for booking. She was found guilty for Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer, OWI (4th), and Felony Bail Jumping. Tia was sentenced to 5 years in prison and ordered to pay $3484 in fines.
