On January 26, 2024. A female named Peggy called the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department stating she had just gotten out of the hospital and that “Cory” her roomate had been threatening her. Peggy told dispatch that Cory was threatening to drag her around by her hair and kick her out of the house. She also said she was having a hard time breathing because she was under a lot of stress and was scared. Shortlyafter, a deputy contacted Peggy via phone. Peggy stated that Cory did not want her cooking in the kitchen anymore and said Cory was missing his Ice Cream from the freezer; she said Cory was going to start punching out windows by noon if his ice cream was not back in the freezer. She said Cory broke a bunch of dishes the previous evening and threw her pizzazz pizza maker. Peggy also said Cory broke her phone a few weeks ago and she had to buy a new one. She also mentioned that Cory said “There is no one big enough around the house to stop him from dragging her around by her hair.” The deputy went to the residence to meet with Peggy and examine the damages. Peggy informed the deputy that she had videos of Cory yelling and breaking things. In one of the videos, a crashing sound could be heard in the background along with a male’s voice saying “Until you grow up, you're going to be treated like a child”. Peggy said the plates and pizzazz belonged to her and did not give Cory permission to break her possessions. Peggy allowed the deputy into the residence and he spoke with a man identified as Daniel. Daniel said he was present during the incident where the pizzazz and dishes were broken. Peggy then showed the deputy the broken pizzazz dishes in the kitchen. The deputy left but returned later in the day along with an officer from the Iron River Police Department when Peggy called to report that Cory was back at the residence. Peggy came to the door and informed them that Cory was currently in the kitchen. She showed them videos recorded from the last 5 minutes where Cory can be heard yelling profanities and complaining about the dishes not being done. She allowed both officers back into the house where they met Cory. He agreed to step outside and was questioned about the broken dishes and the pizzazz. Cory said he threw them away because they were dirty and asked Peggy to stop leaving dirty dishes lying around. Cory said he pays all the bills, and no one helps him. He said the heating element did not work on the pizzazz and it was dirty, so he threw it on the garbage, not against the wall. Cory also said the pizzazz, and the dishes were his and not Peggy's. He said he threw his own dishes and pizzazz into the garbage. Cory was also saying Peggy burns her food on the stove and the smoke goes upstairs and burns his eyes. Officers determined that based on everything Peggy and Cory stated and the videos that were provided, that Cory would be under arrest for Disorderly Conduct. Cory was then placed in handcuffs and searched. As Cory was being placed in handcuffs, he became upset and began saying profanities towards the officers. He was placed into a squad car and spent the next 40 minutes yelling at the deputy on the way to the county jail. He was found guilty for Felony Bail Jumping. He was sentenced to 3 years of probation and ordered to pay a $515 fine.
